As we broke the news back in July, in a mere three weeks from now, XanGo (OpTree Profile) will officially launch its new Glimpse Skin Care line. The company, best known for its introduction of the mangosteen juice to the market, is now the first to create a skin care line produced from the tropic fruit.

The new Glimpse Skin line with not only feature the benefits of the mangosteen fruit, but will also feature the proprietary technology of the BioActive X3 Complex, a revolutionary system that will help deliver the ingredients to the skin. The BioActive is an all natural, clean and toxin free complex that will naturally nourish the skin.


“Glimpse is a natural, strategic extension of our business, and we’re proud to take the lead again by creating the category for topical skin nutrition from the mangosteen fruit,” said XanGo Founder and Board Chairman/CEO Aaron Garrity. “What XanGo Juice brought to the world six years ago in terms of creating a category and introducing a ground floor business opportunity, Glimpse will offer for topical mangosteen nutrition. The difference is that six years later we are in 23 countries with a sophisticated infrastructure and one million independent distributors to support the launch of Glimpse.”

Glimpse will become available on November 7th throughout the United States and Canada. The product will be introduced to the remaining 21 countries where XanGo products are sold in the first half of 2008. The product can be purchased online or through independent distributors.

State of the Mangosteen Category: 2008

LEHI, UT – Mar. 14, 2008 – The mangosteen is leading the race in superfruits and healthy foods, according to the 2008 Packaged Facts Food Flavours and Ingredients Outlook. XanGo LLC, the company that created the category when it introduced XanGo® Juice to a global market in 2003, continues to dominate the space, leading the category with more than 80 percent of market share*.

Setting scientific research standards

With scientific partners that include Northridge, Calif.-based Medicus Research, Weber State University and leading independent laboratories, XanGo is spearheading the scientific exploration of the whole mangosteen fruit through a tiered approach based on safety, standardization and efficacy.

As awareness and consumption of the mangosteen has increased worldwide, so has the need to better understand the fruit's most prominent phytonutrient, xanthones. Through XanGo's leadership, independent researchers have established a credible scientific method for testing and measuring xanthones.

Now, through this peer-reviewed, published study, category participants and consumers have a more consistent and reliable method of measuring and marketing mangosteen products relative to xanthone content claims.

A pre-clinical, preliminary 28-day study of XanGo Juice by Charles River Laboratories of Montreal identified the bioavailability of xanthones to determine how many xanthones are actually absorbed and the pathway they travel. Study director Susan McPherson, MSc, senior research scientist at Charles River Laboratories, said preliminary research findings demonstrate that the proprietary whole fruit formula in XanGo Juice leads to high levels of xanthone absorption.

Ongoing research shows high absorption of xanthones in defined dosages, with elements of the whole mangosteen fruit as a delivery vehicle. Unnaturally elevated levels of xanthone consumption actually were shown to result in decreased absorption efficiency.

Research shows artificially inflating or manipulating a product with xanthone extracts may not add any value. The mangosteen presents more value in its whole fruit form, as presented in XanGo Juice. There are many other phytochemicals found in the fruit that have beneficial effects, which are lost in extraction or jeopardized when the natural balance of the fruit is manipulated.

It's better to respect the mangosteen as nature intended. And honor the true definition of "whole fruit" usage. If you say it, you should mean it. Aaron Garrity Awarded CEO of the Year in Utah Business Magazine

A “dream come true” is how Aaron Garrity describes his position as CEO of XanGo. “I always wanted to start my own company, I talked and dreamed of it for years,” he says.

In 2007 that dream got even bigger. The company experienced phenomenal international growth, opening several new markets worldwide, welcoming 10,000 international distributors and earning more than $1 million in revenue within the first month of business in Malaysia. XanGo also hired 353 employees, introduced XanGo.TV and is expanding operations at its distribution facility Spanish Fork. If XanGo had to be summed up in just one word, “growth” would be it, Garrity says.

“When you take a company from start to approximately one million distributors, understanding growth is important,” Garrity says. “The ability to grow management and make appropriate decisions is vital. With that said, it’s also important to be able to maintain the overall corporate vision and objectives, knowing the people and the organization.”

But XanGo has not always experienced such success. In 2001, the company prepared to launch in a very shaky market. Realizing that obtaining start-up capital from outside sources would be unlikely, Garrity mortgaged his home. “We felt the time was right, so we started XanGo with almost nothing more than a whole lot of energy and a dream,” he says.

After becoming CEO of XanGo just 16 months ago, Garrity’s main objective was to keep the company focused and specialized. “XanGo tells one simple story and that’s the story of mangosteen. We’ve specialized this one story and we’re the first in our industry’s history to be five years into the market with just one product.”

XanGo’s efforts to educate the world about the health benefits of mangosteen have contributed to the company’s success, Garrity says. In 2007, the fruit’s popularity grew after being discovered by Oprah Winfrey and The New York Times.

As CEO, Garrity says he tries to create a company culture that’s flowing with energy, innovation and charity. When XanGo was first launched, Garrity stressed the importance of making charitable giving a part of his business model. Today, that model is known as XanGo Goodness, and it benefits families and children around the globe.

Overall, Garrity says that it’s a combination of focus, specialization, having a strong management team and a positive company culture that has equaled success for XanGo. As for the future of XanGo, Garrity says that he hopes to see the company become the greatest direct sales company in the history of the industry and continue the quest to share mangosteen’s story with the world.
